Personal growth is the process of understanding yourself and pushing yourself to reach your highest potential. It means always asking yourself about whom you are becoming, what you wanna become and how you plan to get there.

It can involve working on new habits and hobbies, fostering new skills, and practising new strategies to achieve your goals. Improving and working on oneself is one of the most important recurring processes that all human beings keep on going throughout their life. There is no end to this process. Every morning brings new opportunities and challenges and teaches us something new which at the end of the day contributes to one's overall personality as well as holistic development. One can’t neglect the importance of self-improvement and personal development as it is the core purpose of life and motivates one to go past their limits and perform to their best in their respective fields every day. If one stops improving, they will start feeling dumbstruck and awful and will soon lose interest in life as everything will seem monotonous. One will start hating themselves. This can be best understood with the example: For instance, just look out for your photos 5 years past or just go through something you wrote 5 years ago. You will yourself start feeling the difference about what knowingly or unknowingly you have grown into. During this process, human being unleashes their potential as well as get to know about their weakness, strengths and talents they possess. Now, self-improvement doesn’t only mean working on one’s physical appearance or just about constantly being involved with the books. There must be a balance between everything and one must devote suitable time to each physical as well as mental aspect of their life for overall well-being. Here is a list of some habits that a person must cultivate amongst them for overall self-improvement and personal development:

1. Exercise Regularly

One must exercise regularly for good physical health. This induces a feeling of self-confidence and well-being in oneself. Every day just try and devote 30 minutes to physical activities, just be consistent with them and you will start to see results within4 weeks. When your body is healthy, you glow differently and everything around you feel right. You will be part of a more active lifestyle and see yourself improving every day.

2. Practice Meditation

To feel calm and enjoy while exercising, one can listen to their favorite music, now that can be Kesariya by Arijit Singh or The Nights by Avicii or Kar Har Maidan Fateh by Sukhwinder Singh or a podcast by Ranveer Allahabadia or by Jay Shetty 😉 It is one of the best ways to engage oneself and make exercising enjoying.

3. Read a Book

Books are the best teacher. One must adopt the habit of reading regularly. Self-reading and analysing what you just read contributes a lotto this. Make sure to take short notes while reading. No matter what type of book you are reading. Make sure to jot down important points from them. This increases the absorptivity of the text you are reading and helps you understand the text better. Life is too short to learn everything on your own, thus learning from someone else’s mistake helps you save precious time which you might spend in doing a mistake and then learning from it and then rectifying it. This gives you leverage or edge over others who will commit that mistake and spend time over it. Books do the same to one. They are full of experiences, and enriching and nourishing content.

4. Networking

Make a network with good people around you. A great Network is believed to be one of the best assets ones can build in the 21st century. It is considered to be at par with money. By just forming a strong and good network, you can excel and perform wonders in your life and work field.

5. Take Feedback

Now, many people will say that it doesn’t matter what other people think about you but that doesn’t mean that one shouldn’t take feedback. It is not necessary that feedback has to be from a third party. You can analyse yourself on your own. Maintain a journal or diary where you can track your daily progress. Your competition shouldn’t be other people, rather the person who you were yesterday should be your competition for today. If someone elder than you or just someone, points out something about you, don’t just ignore it or believe it immediately. First, analyse and verify that on your level and if you find that the other person is right try to rectify and work on that. This is one of the best ways to grow oneself and turn into a wonderful human being.

6. Learn Something New

Try and learn a new skill, whether you do it yourself or with the help of classes or courses. Digitalization has made everything so convenient that you can learn a particular skill from industry experts or the master of that field from the convenience of your home. You might, for instance, take courses to learn another language, a new software program or how to write creatively. Consider watching a webinar on professional development topics such as entrepreneurship or social media marketing.
